Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

I am  finally back to blogging.  The Friday Roundup will return soon.

Today, I  am changing my scenery and working from the library.  Seeing the same four walls and familiar objects gets boring.  It is nice and quiet here, plus I get to enjoy a nice cup of white chocolate mocha coffee and a chocolate chip muffin.

The month of April was a blur.  It started with my grandmother getting sick and her health quickly declined.  She died at the end of April.  I am grateful for the support of friends who sent cards, emails, and texts.  In the meantime, the editors finally got caught up on Knoji.  All of my product reviews were published.  Hooray!

The writers grumbled and were planning to stop writing due to lack of motivation.  Just when I was ready to throw in the towel,  my inbox was flooded with emails saying: CONGRAULATIONS.  The payment was slightly lower than normal, but I was just grateful to see my work being published.

What else?

I am sure there are writers out there who wish that they can support themselves full time from their writing.  However, in reality, that is not the case.  I am a long way from the day in which I won't have to worry about getting a day job.

As of right now, I have to get a day job.  I had an interview last month.  I was thrilled and hopeful.  I passed the test before I went to the interview.  So everything was looking promising.  I almost panicked when I thought I lost my hosiery.  (This cannot be happening I thought).  But then I found it buried under a blanket.

Then the email came.  I didn't get the job.  I was upset for a few hours.  Rejection is nothing new for me and I consider it normal.  I use to believe that if you passed the test it meant that you had the job.  But in this case, it wasn't true.  Oh well, back to the drawing board.

In book news, I am looking forward to doing some book shopping next month.  Looks like I will have some room in my budget.  I am looking forward to reading Sarah Dessen's THE MOON AND MORE, and ALL I NEED by Susane Colasanti.  There are some other books in my B&N shopping bag I hope to buy.  If I can't buy them all there is always the library or wait until another time.

Have a great weekend everyone.
